Finally, after all of the waiting and the production issues with the slipcase folio, we FINALLY have a ship date! Iron Age Comics will be receiving our shipment of books and slipcases on October 20th! 

Be on the lookout for an email from Backerkit reminding you of your final chance to correct your address. We will be locking addresses next week!

When am I getting my Haunted Box package?

We are prepping our fulfillment space with all the packaging essentials we need to ensure we can quickly and carefully pack your shipments and get them out to you as soon as possible! Here's how we expect the shipping timelines to work:

• OCT 20: Iron Age receives the full inventory.
• OCT 21-25: Packaging, handling, postage paid and carrier pick-up for all non-signed rewards. NON-SIGNED REWARD BACKERS SHOULD RECEIVE THEIR REWARDS WITHIN 10 BUSINESS DAYS FROM OCT 25TH FOR U.S. BACKERS AND APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS FOR BACKERS OUTSIDE OF THE U.S.
• OCT 22-27: The Haunted Box "signing party" will fall somewhere in this date range. This is when the artists and writers will get together to sign comics and art plates for backers who have ordered signature packages or rewards that automatically come with signatures.
• OCT 29-31: Packaging, handling, postage paid and carrier pick-up for all signed rewards. SIGNED REWARD BACKERS SHOULD RECEIVE THEIR REWARDS WITHIN 10 BUSINESS DAYS FROM OCT 31ST FOR U.S. BACKERS AND APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS FOR BACKERS OUTSIDE OF THE U.S.
• NOV 1 -DEC 15: This is the shipping date range for any signed rewards that require artists that could not accommodate the Iron Age signing party. This date range includes the possibility of having to ship your reward to the artist and waiting to receive it back. If your reward falls into this category, we will notify you after the signing party and communicate a better estimated ship date once we have the desired artist's signature.

Greetings Haunted Box backers!

I want to thank you all for your continued patience as we make progress towards final shipping details!

The latest from the overseas printer is that they expect to get the books and slipcases compiled and packaged by August 21st and to port by August 23rd.  The oceanic shipment could take anywhere from 4-8 weeks - we're just waiting on a better estimate from the printer once the product is loaded onto the boat and the communication with the freight company is finalized.

While we were waiting for the final products to be finished printing, we paid for a small batch shipment to be Fedexed in time for Terrificon at Mohegan Sun on 28-30 July. We had a blast introducing the book to fans and fellow industry professionals! We did not offer anyone the Kickstarter Exclusive red foil variants, just to maintain the integrity of your faithful pledges.  But we quickly sold out of the Standard Cover copies we brought! It was an amazing show and we can't WAIT for you guys to hold your copies in your hands. Here's some photos from the event featuring creators that worked on The Haunted Box!

Orders locked tonight! Backerkit add-ons charged to cards on July 1st!

We're getting close, everyone! Thanks to all who completed their surveys. There's still a few stragglers out there  - PLEASE complete your surveys no later than June 30th! There will still be time to change your addresses if you've moved, but please HURRY and complete your surveys if you haven't already!

If you found some cool extras offered in the Backerkit add-ons page, AWESOME! Thanks for grabbing those! Any extras selected in Backerkit will be charged to your cards on July 1st, just to keep you informed.

After July 1st, the preorder store will be opened to the public, so the shipping rates will go up to reflect non-backer shipping fees. If you want to make additions now before that happens, you still have a little time!

Updates from the printer are coming along nicely! 

We're looking at a printing completion date of July 24th and a shipping date to arrive to our headquarters around August 20th. We should be able to complete fulfillment by the end of August meaning books should start arriving to US backers around early September!

From the printer: "The flats are printed (done),  and the boards are wrapped. The folios are then sent out for the die cutting, and then glued together to create the case. We will then need a week to coordinate with my freight forwarder and transfer pallets on board the ship (ship departs the following week). With ocean shipping, customs clearance and residential delivery, I estimate everything in your hands mid August. I will have departure and port arrival dates once my freight forwarder books the shipment."

Greetings from Fort Indiantown Gap, PA!

Hey all! Haunted Box Co-creator Jon Santana here. For those who don't know, I serve in the U.S. Military in the Army National Guard.  This is the busiest time of year for my unit (we are mid-way through our Annual Training exercise). As you might imagine, there's not a lot of time to run the production side of The Haunted Box - and since we never expected the printer delays we are experiencing, I never thought I'd have to juggle production while conducting military training! 

Even so, I've got some good updates for all you patient backers that we are so thankful for!

Proof updates

Yes, we are SO far behind with the proofs. There have been several attempts at getting the formatting, sizing, and colors right and this is the most recent one. Unfortunately, the blacks of the images in the foreground are STILL too dark and can barely be seen against the background, as you can see in the paper-and-ink matched proofs for the folio in the image below:

Part of the delays are due to the overseas shipping speeds - it takes so long to get proofs and get them quick enough to turn around corrections. This last proof took 3 weeks just to get the paper to the U.S. office of the printer company. The printing company - Printlore Creative Print Solutions- assured me today they are getting the next folio cover proofs this week along with copies of all of the complete printed book variants! I will share pics as soon as I get them.

DELAY DETAILS

I included the screenshot above as an example of the types of delays we've been experiencing. I in no way want to disparage Printlore as a printing company or discourage any creator using them for all their printing needs. They have been very good about communicating their delays, even when they have been unexpected and very, very far beyond their original prediction dates. The screenshot above is a great example of some of the strange obstacles we have faced, such as graphic content being cause for a vendor to have to refuse the project in certain parts of China in favor of other provinces that are legally allowed to print our book.

I also want to take ownership of our part in the delays. The folio (slipcase) in particular was a far greater challenge than we expected. The die-cut and spot-UV design caused complications we could not have anticipated, and we have learned a great deal about the limitations of die-cutting tools throughout this process. 

I feel like we are close to the finish line with the printer, and I am hopeful I will FINALLY be able to provide accurate shipping dates once the folio is finally approved to begin production. I apologize for the confusion of previous updates, as I will admit I was confused as to where in the post-production part of the process we were in at certain times.

Lastly I want to (quietly) announce that pre-production has begun with The Haunted Box #2! We have 3 stories turned in from our writers, one of which has already been sent to one of our artists to begin pencils! Note that I did not highlight, embolden, or provide a header to this last paragraph.... The "official" announcement is yet to come! Shhhhhhh.....

We want to thank you all for patiently waiting as we continue the production process with our printer!

This has gone far beyond the timeline we expected and we at Iron  Age greatly apologize for the delays.  Some of the delays were caused by incorrect depth/sizing of the slipcase and some were caused by incorrect image files in the design (that last part was totally my fault). 

Overall, the communication has been very slow with the printer and every question or concern brought up takes a week (or more!) to address at times.  Our best estimate for us to package and ship the books and folios to you is now mid-June. We will keep you updated as progress moves along!
